The Adoration of Saint Sebastian
March 20th, 2020 - May 10th, 2020
ACANSA Gallery and Pinnacle Fine Arts presents "The Adoration of Saint Sebastian," an art exhibit showcasing the interpretations of various artists using various mediums with one common theme.
The historical legend of Saint Sebastian is that he was a third-century Roman Praetorian Guard that was dondemned to be executed for proselytizing Chrisitanity. The execution was that he was to be "shot to death with arrows." After the sentence was carried out, his body was discovered by Saint Irene, a Roman widow who nursed him back to health. Restored to health, Sebastian continued to spread the word of Christianity contrary to the orders of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. He was once again condemned to death, this time by clubbing, which later resulted in his death.
