Deconstructing mundane subject matter and filtering the essence through an evolving process that seeks to simplify complexity, compress values, and exaggerate color distinguishes Sean LeCrone's oil paintings. His style is defined by layers that alternate between pragmatic and expressionistic: charcoal applied in dry and wet form, followed by washes of color, then alternating passages of opaque paint and transparent glazes.
Sean LeCrone was born in Oklahoma, but raised since the age of three in central Arkansas. He currently pays the bills by working as a senior software engineer in Conway, Arkansas. Sean is by and large a self taught artist, but also seeks to inform and refine his processes through attending workshops, participating in local events and exhibits, and the study of works by historical and contemporary masters. Sean has been painting and exhibiting his work since 2005, mostly in the Little Rock area.
